My sweet Madison

her first home. this is how she spent her time in the hospital. (most of the time they had siran wrap over her rear end to keep the heat in.)
Right before she came home. 4 days old.
One year old.

FIVE years ago today, Madison Raigh was born in Belleville, Illinois at 8:09 pm. How is it possible that she is really five years old?
A quick background

I was scheduled for induction at 8 am. Randy was leaving for Alaska in four days and the OB (yes military )actually agreed to induce me so Randy could be there. I went to the hospital the night before to be admitted. It was a Catholic hospital so at 8am a nun said a prayer over the loud speaker. When Madison was FINALLY delivered (after almost three hours of pushing) the 8pm prayer was being said. I felt like Madison's birth was being really watched over.

Of course, she came out completely blue and not breathing well. The little bugger had swallowed amniotic fluid (75%of her lungs were full of that crap.) She was taken very quickly to the nicu and that is where she spent the next four days. She responded well to the treatments and we were able to hold her about 24 hours later. It was super hard to watch my sweet little girl hooked up to all of those wires and not able to hold her. Although her birth was a little crazy, she has been the sweetest, happiest loving girl I have ever known.

I wonder sometimes what she will grow up to be. What will she look like as a teenager? What will her personality become? I don't ever worry about her talking abilities, because believe me, I don't think she has shut her mouth since that first day of crying! She even talks in her sleep!
I am so thankful that God entrusted me to raise this beautiful little girl.

Five
Happy Birthday Madison, Mommy Loves you.

I can't believe you didn't get to hold her for 24 hours. That must have been agony! I hate seeing babies hooked up to all that stuff--but I know it is for good reasons!

Wonderful post! Happy birthday to Madison! I can't believe she is already 5!

I knew it.. Madison has just been a little beauty all of her life. Thanks for sharing the story of her birth and what she had to overcome from the very beginning of her life. She is a true blessing and is lucky to have such a great mom who knows not to take a single moment for granted.
