My sweet Cait.
She is at such a sweet age (I know some are like are you serious, but I really like this age). She is also VERY attached to her "bankie" or as we would call it, "a very thin very soft, not quite white unfolded cloth diaper" (actually there are about 5 that I am able to switch in and out without her minding much). This attachment is an amazing concept to me. Sometimes when she is falling asleep, I will secretly watch her with her thumb and that blanket. (Belive it or not, I could not find a single picture with Cait and the blanket.) It is the same ritual every time. First she places it under the side of her right cheek and her right thumb goes in her mouth. Then she is still for a few moments (kind of like she is getting reacquainted with her friend since her mean mommy makes her leave it in her bed). Then she takes it out from under her cheek and she dangles it over her face. Back and forth. Next, the covers come off. Her foot goes straight in the air and her blanket gets draped over her foot and slowly pulled on until it falls off. This goes on for a few minutes until very slowly it ends up over her face and her right hand. She eventually falls asleep like this, but fairly quickly after she is asleep, she takes the blanket and replaces it in the original location under her right cheek and right hand, with her thumb in her mouth.
After watching such an innocent love, it reminds me as to how something so simple can make life complete. She makes my heart smile.
They sure do grow fast. She walked into preschool this morning (her first day without me) and didn't even look back. I love her independence, but man, can't a mom get a look over the shoulder? In all the craziness of motherhood, I sure do love the little moments and wish I could get better at slowing down, committing them to memory, and make sure I am really enjoying them. In the blink of an eye my girls, my sweet, sweet little girls are going to be too old for me and I know I am going to really wish I could of held on to these moments for a little longer.
Man I love that girl!

She is so beautiful! My J walked into preschool on Tuesday and sort of waved at me over his shoulder. Eye contact would have been nice, but I guess tears and clinging would have been worse. Hugs to you!
That girl is too cute!
That last photo makes my eyeballs hurt! Hilarious! She looks like Madison in the pigtails photo.
She is so sweet and that was such a sweet post!
What a wonderful post. She is beautiful, and even without meeting her, she seems to have an air of confidence about her. An inner strength or something.
Also, WOW. She looks SO MUCH LIKE MADISON in these photos. That one with the pigtails. Holy smokes, Tracy! Behold the power of genetics!
I agree with Katie, I thought it was Madison in the pigtails photo too! I can't believe how much they look alike!
What a beautiful post!
The world needs more moms like you.
PS - I like that age too!
STOP! The tears are about to pour from my eyes.
(one just slipped) (Oh, YOU!)
What a beautiful post. I am so in love with age 3 also. Not like every other year hasn't been wonderful, but how is it that it just gets better and better?
Also, isn't that the beauty of a blog? Just imagine when Cait is 15 years old and she (and Madison) read about how much their parents savored their childhood and how fortunate they are to have parents like you.
I had no idea that little Cait is a "bankie" girl. Sounds the same as my blankie, thumb-sucker, Lincoln. Always with the right thumb too! So sweet, that girl!
