guess what's cooking?

UNFORTUNATELY, not just dinner!
oh yes people, I just about ruined my BRAND NEW stove. Believe me, the end of this plastic spoon may look soft, but it is A BEAR to get off of my ceramic/glass cook top. I did finally get it off after about 15 minutes of constant scrubbing. I am such a Dumba$$.
This is the picture I was going to post. I was going to have a little riddle. Do you see what is different in this picture?

And here was the answer. My first meal in my new (almost done) kitchen was spaghetti. I know lame right? I haven't been to the store in so long, that is about all I could pull together.
I have to get used to the burners. If you look closely, you can see the spoon in this picture, probably burning right then. On my old stove, it had one big burner in the back and one in the front. On this one, they are both in the front. It is a smaller area in between. Hence the first picture. I guess I won't make that mistake again. The spaghetti was pretty good.
Here is the best part of the day. I have a family room, living room, kitchen table in the kitchen and half of a playroom, ALL ON THE FIRST FLOOR. Have mercy! I called and told my mom that and she said, uh Tracy, I didn't hear the kitchen mentioned. I said nope I don't have a working kitchen yet, but I have everything else and that is GREAT for me. I LOVE being back in my family room. I will finish the girls playroom tomorrow, and start getting the rest of the kitchen together. I have one full box of give away stuff. I am excited to add to it. The charity
people are coming to pick it up on Thursday, so I guess I should hurry.
The electrician didn't come today to make my heater work and my refrigerator. If I could write a letter to contractors, electricians, hardwood floor people, service people, delivery people etc, it would go something like this:
Dear ___(insert company here)__,
If you say you are going to be here, please do it. If something comes up and you are unable to make it, please extend me a common courtesy to call and let me know. I will understand. If I was unable to be here for you, for my appointment, you would still charge me an hourly wage and make me wait a LONG time to reschedule. Please take my 4 hour window of time I waited for you, multiply it by your hourly wage (which insistently is more than a surgeon, who saves your life.) and then go ahead and take it off my bill. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Tracy

That is one pretty stove! We had a flat top stove in NC. I once put an oven mitt on a hot eye. Oops! Turned around to see flames. Not so good! At least you've had the first oops with it!

I know, NOTHING on this planet upsets me more than people who don't even bother to show up to do something during a scheduled time frame. Isn't it the most annoying thing ever?????

Again, your kitchen looks beautiful!

No kidding - I melted a plastic spatula on my new smooth-top within the first two weeks we lived here. I got most of it up, but if you look closely, you can still see the scar. boo-hoo! It upsets me every single time that I polish the thing. a blemish in the (albeit momentary) shiny perfection.

The kitchen is looking GORGEOUS! Cant wait to see pics with the granite in place.

It's been a while since I've looked at your blog. Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful! The picture could have come out of a magazine. You did such a good job picking out everything. I can't wait to see the counter tops. We miss you and love you all.
