What has happened to customer service?

**Update** I called Lowe's back and they found my box. It was mixed up with someone elses order.. Shocking! So I guess they were going to send a manager out with the box. The only thing is, they didn't come when they said they were. If they would have left when I talked to them, they would have been here in plenty of time. Well, it got to be 11:10 and I had to leave to pick up Madison from school. I called them. They said he had left 1o minutes before. I politely told them they needed to get a hold of the guy and tell him to turn around, I had to leave to get my daughter. After all of that, I was 10 minutes late to pick up Madison. I had gotten a hold of the office, so she was aware of it, but still. Oh and to top it all off... I ran into the damn garage door with the truck. When I put Cait in her seat, I closed the door on the emergency release handle on the garage door opener. And the door came down enough to hit the top of the truck. I am lucky I can't pick the door up by myself, because I am sure it would have been in the yard somewhere. I would have chucked it!
I went and FINALLY got the girls pictures taken. They are only about 4-5 months late. I have NEVER been late on pictures before. Anyway, Katie gave me a name of someone at Sears and he was AMAZING. They don't look like any Sears pictures I have ever had taken before!

Today we are getting hardwood floors installed. It is already throughout the first floor and the stairs going up, so we (really me and Randy went along with it.) decided to put hardwood in the hallway upstairs. It will tie in the stairs. So the installers were suppose to be here between 8 and 9. Surprisingly enough, they were actually here a few minutes after 8 (and I wasn't ready). They got right to work and working hard.

So what is with the title you ask? They came to me and said, "um we have a problem." The entire box is the WRONG color. I don't know if any of you have put in hardwood floors before, but the floor we have is special order, has to be in your house for three days to settle or whatever the correct term is and the installers are here now. Exactly when did it become acceptable not to re-check your work/order. It was three boxes of wood people. It wasn't an entire house or anything. THREE BOXES. Now, the installers are going to have to put in what they can, they are going to have to order a new box, wait for it to be delivered and then go pick it up let it sit in the house and then have it installed. A pain in my backside.

So my question to you is? WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO PRIDE IN YOUR WORK AND BEING GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO? You know a little WORK ETHIC? Even if it is working at Lowe's.

I totally agree with you on that one. I get frustrated with people that don't do their job correctly. C'mon...IT'S THEIR JOBS!

That sucks. It's extra frustrating when you're all set to get the job done and then you have wait on someone's stupid oversight. Arg!

Hey, I also love the top of your blog page. It looks awesome! Can you post a little tutorial on how you did that?

IT SUCKS for you to have to live with your house in a shambles because some people are incompetent! They should totally give you a discount!

This has nothing to do with customer service, but with our remodeling dilemma. 22 boxes of hardwood in our living room waiting to be installed...and our installer breaks his ankle. Now he's back, but it looks like we may run out of hardwood. Which means ordering and aclimating before the job can be finished. Eie yie yie!
