Lawn update

I have MANY pictures to post from my new camera, but I wanted to post some pictures I took of the evidence of my VERY stupid project.

So Randy got home yesterday afternoon. In hand were tulips for me and a rose for each of the girls. *Your que to say, Awww* Sweet right? (I love tulips!) Guess what I was doing at the time...Raking leaves. I think Randy just about had a heart attack when he saw all of the piles, because he realized it was probably a project I started and he would have to finish. So anyway, we came inside, cleaned up and headed to a restaurant. It was pretty good, a little pricey, but still good. The main draw to it is the scenery you dine with. Well, by the time we got there it was good and dark, so we will have to go back in the day. I had a crab cake and a fillet (of course no one makes them as good as my dad does. Seriously, if you are ever in his neck of the woods, stop by and have him grill you one. You will never look at steak the same again!) It is in a quaint little town that I really want to go back to without kids and look around all of the little shops.

This morning Randy rolled out of bed, put on his work clothes, (I am sure he internally cussed me out more than once) and headed out to the big mine field better known as my front yard. I am gone the entire morning on Wednesdays with school and then Cait and I have gymnastics right in the middle of Madison's school.

Wouldn't you know it, all the hard work I had done raking was completely gone by the time I got home. I couldn't believe it. He had all of them bagged. I fed the girls, put them down for a nap and helped Randy finish the rest. Do you know how many bags? I thought about making you count the pictures and see who got the closest, but scroll down through the pictures and I will tell you at the bottom.
These were the bags I helped Randy with after I got home.

These were some he had done earlier. All of the sticks there is a Japanese Hydrangea that was horrible. It was hard to keep from looking gross, it was right by the garage and I really didn't like it. Right next to that is a holly bush which I guess is good luck, so that is staying. The plant came out right behind where the sticks are. I am thinking of putting some sort of bench. It will be nice to sit on while I watch the girls play in the summer.

The rest of the ones he did while I was away.

Bagging up the dreaded pine needles.
Thank goodness Randy came home when he did and help me keep my finish what I start, because I would have probably still been working on these leaves next fall. He is great at bagging and quickly. Truth be told, I really don't like getting as dirty as it takes to bag the leaves. He was my knight in shining armor (or my Gardener in sweats and a hat, you know whatever works!)
Katie actually took a picture of me raking leaves yesterday with the big piles all over the yard. I don't have it yet, but will get it and post later.
And those who commented on the bagger thing, we have been looking into those for sometime now, but it seems like there is always something more urgent. I really have grown to like my house, but sometimes it seems like a money pit. I think that is kind of how it is no matter if you have a new or old house, I think just owning a house will do that to you.
Also, the total number of bags......45!
Check back soon for pictures of the girls!

Holy crap! 45 bags! That makes me appreciate my desert landscape even more. We got a hand held sucker for $65 last summer because we can't exactly rake leaves from the rock bed, so we suck and mulch them at the same time :0)

Oh my goodness! When we were in NC we had a big yard and used a riding mower for most of it - but we'd occasionally use the push mower and grass catcher on the back. I think Oliver's a big fan of running the mower over the leaves and not bagging (when there aren't 45 bags worth of leaves!). At least you're in your money pit for the long haul so you get to use and appreciate all your updates!
