now I am 8 for 8!

Yes, it is finished and I LOVE it. I get the AHHH, feeling when I walk up the stairs. Poor Cait hung out in the my bedroom as I was painting (she is so content, she played, watched TV, rearranged the pillows, and had a good time playing) and Madison was at school. Randy took and picked her up so I could paint. I really like the color enough to keep it going into the formal living room. Yea me!

So here is a recap on the house remodeling since Randy moved in, in July of 2006 (the girls and i moved in in late May, but Randy was still in training.)

*The girls room:
Brand new: trim, baseboard,
fix the drywall imperfections and cracks,
paint the room a beautiful shade of purple (it took THREE coats of primer and two coats of paint to cover the hideous blue that was in there and on the ceiling)
Six panel solid wood door
Replace closet bi fold doors with six panel doors

*The guest room:
Brand New: Baseboard,Trim
Fix Drywall and cracks
That was the hideous mural room, so Randy had to prime three times, sand the entire room down after each prime and then paint twice. That was unbelievable. It took the previous owners 6 months to paint. It seems like it took Randy almost that long to get it off.
Six panel solid wood door
Change out bi fold closet doors for six panel

*The office:
Brand new:baseboard, trim
Fix dry wall
paint (very neutral room so only painting no priming)
Change to solid wood door
Change closet door to six panel
Take out horrible built in desk (of course we have yet to replace it so the new desk is a card table. How classy is that?)

*Our bedroom:
Brand new: Trim and baseboards
Fix dry wall
Prime and paint.

*Our bathroom (the major remodel) We contracted this.
We took the bathroom and closet down to the outside wall 2x4s. We totally reconfigured the bathroom and walk in closet. We are most happy with the remodel. It doubled the size of the bathroom, and we only lost less than a foot in width in the closet. We added a tub instead of just a shower. The toilet is no longer a diagonal toilet (oh yes, it sat diagonally). We went from one sink to two.

*The closet:
All new shelving and organizing. Even though it is a little smaller, it holds SO much more because of the way it is organized.

*The hallway:
Brand new Baseboard and trim
Paint..twice
New hand rail going down the stairs and new railing at the top of the stairs.

All of the rooms have updated lighting and fans. Randy changed out all of the light switches and outlets. They were all painted and hideous.

We had all of the bedrooms re carpeted and instead of the hallway being re carpeted, we had hardwood floors put in. That way the top of the stairs(also hardwood) look more attached.

That is every room upstairs except the girls bathroom. and that has even had the door and trim replaced.

On the first floor,
*the girls playroom (a three season room) has been painted. we haven't done the trim and stuff because we are going to replace the door and windows in there soon.(well, by next winter hopefully )

*The first floor powder room has had a new paint job (it was hunter green and it is VERY small to begin with.) new fixtures, new mirror and new hanging racks.

So we are done pretty much with the upstairs and ready to tackle the first floor. The first room is going to be the formal living room. The baseboard is updated, so it just leaves the window trim and paint. I think we are going to wait on the trim because of the window replacement. That should really just be painting. It will be so nice to get down to a floor that people actually see. Randy is antsy to jump into the kitchen. That is exciting, but we are going to do such a big remodel that we will have a drafter come in and draw up a plan. That is going to be a pretty penny. We have to finish paying off the bathroom first. I think I am probably going to get done remodeling and NEVER want to leave. Who knows. The upstairs really feels like ours now.

So, are you still with me? If you are, you should get a big pat on the back. Owning a home is never ending isn't it?

Wow! Just reading all of what you done makes me tired. How do you find the time and energy to do it all? I would love to buy a home and "fix it up", but am deathly afraid to do so. Go YOU!

Oh, did I give the impression that I did most of the work??? Sorry, the credit really goes mostly to Randy. He is pretty handy when I can get him to do it!

Yes, owning a home IS never ending. But it's worth it. Sort of like raising kids. Exhausting. Rewarding. Blah blah blah.

Great job on finishing the painting! I think that a finished paint job is one of life's greatest feelings. I love to just sit and BE in the new colors. It's awesome.

You are sticking with your new year's resolution better than anyone I know, by the way. Keep it up! It's inspiring!
