Why is it?...

Why is it EVERYTHING happens while your husband is gone?

Why do the kids get sick when he is gone?(they aren't sick, thank goodness, keep reading)

Why does the water softener go out and flood the basement two weeks after you move into a house and you have a three and a one year old (that was last year when we moved in, that was my welcome to owning a home)

Why does the well pump go out and leave you without any water?? Oh yes, NO water. Do you realize what you use water for?

Here are some things...
BRUSHING YOUR TEETH!
SHOWER
RINSING OFF DISHES
SHOWER
WETTING PAPER TOWELS
WASHING YOUR HANDS AFTER CLEANING OUT A FIREPLACE (oh yes, that is my favorite!)
GOING TO THE BATHROOM
WASHING YOUR HANDS AFTER USING THE FACILITIES.

So that is my list and the pump has been out for about 45 minutes. Did you forget that I am in the middle of trying to get ready to go home? Luckily, the contractor who did our bathroom is a plumber and lives in the next subdivision. He is already here looking at it. We also have to leave for Madison's gymnastics class in 15 minutes.

I guess I should go get them dressed.

Oh the joys of owning a home.

*UPDATE: Still no water. Now to add to the list, my fireplace downstairs won't light. It is a pellet stove. I didn't go take a shower at Katie's house because I am totally behind getting ready. I did not think to factor in a days worth of no water. Abby hasn't been taken to her vacation home yet (thank you Katie). My kids didn't have a nap and were at each other's throats. Let's see they destroyed my 'used to be if only for a minute' clean house, and I feel horrible because I had absolutely NO patients with my kids tonight. Life is just a bed of roses (although today, it felt like a bed of thorns) isn't it?

THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE (Nana's) HOME..click click...THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE (Nana's) HOME..click....Damn, I guess that only works over the rainbow!

Last thing, After this horrible day and being a horrible irritable mom, I came across this blog with a great poem. Hopefully if I think about this more often, I won't get so irritated at the small stuff... WHICH PARENT will you be today?

Home ownership bites the big one, sometimes. I hope it gets fixed ASAP...a good visit home should help you feel better, at least!

Any luck with the water thing yet?

Up until this past year, my husband was working out of town almost every weekend and it was all I could do to just hold my breath and pray that something didn't go wrong while he was gone. I once had a string of bad luck with our furnace breaking down (mid-winter) followed by finding a scared bird flying around in our basement (yeah, weird) and shortly after, our dryer broke (not so bad). Yeah, home sweet home. Thank God for good neighbors!

Here's hoping you have a great, relaxing trip while enjoying some down time and a long, hot shower!

That sounds horrible! We had not water for a few days during the remodel and I was MISERABLE. I totally empathize.
