Fun times with the Easy Bake Oven

Good times at our house. The other night I broke out the Easy Bake Oven. My little sister (who is 17 and as tall as I am so really not my "little" sister) had one when she was five or so. She still had it and offered it to the girls when we were home last time. I have wanted to get one for the girls for a long time, but the new model was recalled and haven't yet made it back on the market.
So here is a quick narrative/picture story of the hour (and Randy and I each had a little bite, I remember them tasting just like that..and that wasn't meant to be a compliment..Blaaah!)

Stirring and tasting are the best part of baking right? You can just make out the white oven in front of Cait.

Randy and I spread the batter in the little individual pans because it just wasn't working for the girls. Here is the before.

I forgot to take a picture of the cookie after it came out of the oven. Here is a picture of both cookies right before we let them loose. They topped their own with as much or little as they wanted. (well duh, they went for more!) Cait's is the back one and Madison's is on the pink plate. Those are also plates they picked out from their kitchen to put the cookies on.

Dig in!

Slow down girl!

Sure does look yummy!

Just about done. Obviously they were pretty impressed with their baking, because they both left empty plates. I have been asked MANY times since then if they could get out the "baking thing that makes the cookies."

The OCD mommy did pretty well too. I pretty much let them go to it. It made a mess, and I am not sure how much of the mix actually made it to the pan, but they had a blast! Ya'll should stop by sometime and sample the bakin'!

Side note: Has anyone else had trouble with the spell check? It won't work for me.

Looks like they had fun! With such small pans surely the mess couldn't be too bad... I have a book Small Batch Baking that I've meant to get out to let the girls bake (it has recipes for like 2 cupcakes or 3 cookies) thinking I could let them do it mostly on their own and the mess (and time it took) wouldn't be overwhelming. I haven't done it yet. Hooray for fun moms like you!!

So so so cute!!! Your girls are beyond beautiful!

I remember my Easy Bake very well. I loved it! It was a special treat to use it when my babysitter would come over to babysit.

My boys have all spent some time in the kitchen with me, but never asked for an Easy Bake. I think these are the things I have missed by not having girls :(

Oh I love those photos - so adorable they made me yearn for the days when I had my own easy bake oven. Do they still cook with a light bulb? That seems dangerous now...

My girls like the tasting during the cooking too. That is the best part, after all!

Also, yes, spellcheck is down, Blogger-wide. GRRRR.
