slowed to a snails pace and a week of catch up

*edited to add the cabinet color

The remodel has slowed considerably. I think the first 2 weeks went so fast. Now it is in the contractors hands. We had to wait to get the HVAC in. They have to be in before the electric, the electric in before the drywall, the drywall in and mud/taped before the floors, the floors in before the cabinets, cabinets before appliances, and last, the counter tops. So HVAC has been in here all day. They won't get done today and won't be here tomorrow, so that is into Wednesday. Bummer. I don't mind it taking time when they are working on it, but it is hard to have all these days of non working. Oh well, it is what it is. We have our cabinets on order,
(toffee maple)
I think we have settled on Granite (St. Cecelia, or Shavoliski sp? both lighter colors),

(The picture doesn't do them justice, but lighter rather than dark)

We picked up our tile for the mudroom, foyer, and bathroom. It is called Tuscan taupe. We emptied out the entire living room, family room and dining room to get ready for the floor. Randy is in the process of pulling down the baseboards and door trim in the FR and LR. I now have to pick out a color. We will be able to prime the existing walls (there are only two in the dining room left. )I will try and post samples soon. Does anyone have a favorite color? I need second and third opinions. IF you have a favorite color (specific and place your bought them) that would be great to share. I am leaning towards the neutrals.

Since we are downstairs most of the time, I am forced to look at the craft table constantly. So, it bothers me that there are undone projects. I have successfully finished an 8x8 album with 32 pages a piece completely about Disney. It turned out really good. I made the two of them pretty similar. There are a few pages that are completely different, but I think it turned out really well. (Thank you Steph for finding the paper pack. It worked great.)

Here are a few pictures (or a lot)

Cait slept everyday, here are a few of the times (Madison's page is of her and all the rides she rode on)

the girls together

Day at Epcot *I just LOVE these pictures

The girls got picked to be in the Lion King show. Cait stayed behind and Timon talked to her and gave her five.

Faces of Cait (one of Madison as well)

Cinderella

Belle

Snow White, Jasmine

Cait and her face painting.(Madison has one too)

The last page .

The first page

Left: the tents we made for them. Right: the pool fun

Mickey and Minnie

Ariel

Aurora (Or Sleeping Beauty. Randy was not aware they were the same person. I talked about the Bibity Bobbity boutique while we were there and Randy didn't know that the fairy godmother said that.)

Oh and don't forget to tell me your favorite paint colors. I know there are many paint connoisseurs out there (maryb I expect you to way in heavily, and Andrea what color did you put in your new kitchen, and Katie, what color is in your house? and the rest of you?)

I love the scrapbook! Wish we lived closer - I bet you could inspire me to get scrapbooking again! I'm horrible with choosing paint colors. Our colors in the dining room are yellow tones from Ace Hardware. Their Bamboo Shoot might go with either of the countertop samples - but can you see that from the dining room? Do you have a rug or anything you're trying to coordinate? Did you go with dark or light cabinets? Sounds like you're about to have a whole new house!! I can't wait to see the pictures!

Looking at those granite samples, I like the second one better!! But in person, the first one was my favorite. Weird.

Our house is all "Stone House" by Benjamin Moore. But I like some of your choices better!

I thought you had decided on the KM vanilla glaze cabinets???

Surpises! i love those! I love paint too!!!! AND OH MY GOODNESS !!Those cabinets and countertops very very closely resemble the kitchen inthe my hometown church's new rectory. 9and by rectory i mean freakin gorgeous mansion so beautiful that I would like to become a priest and live there!) It was designed and decorated by some fancy-pants designer/decorators who happent o also be members of the parish. The kitchen is Montana Tan by ICI paints. It is an olivey.grrenish neutral. but it is a neutral. You will think it looks dark on the sample, but it is not at all dark when it is on the walls. The greenish hue of the tan in this color will make the rich tomes in your maple cabinets so so so stunning!!!! I loved the rectory so much that in our house in FL, I painted my kitchen (with natural birch cabinets this smae color and I could not believe what a difference it made. In fact, Im posting a picture for you on my blog of my old, tiny kitchen. I dont know how clearly you will be able to see the paint, but it is worth a try.

My new kitchen in shaker beige by Benjamin moore, but i think it will be too boring and drab withyour cabinet.counter choices. Smae problem with Lenox tan. Huntington beige by Benjaminmoore is also a slighly greenish hued beige. It tends to look tanner or greener with lighting changes.

If your pics onthe net are fairly true to life...I looked at them and practically screamed at the monitor, "OMG Momtana Tan!!!!"

I can talk about paint ALL DAY (as you know) so, keep the discussion coming. this is just my first thought. Ill have more. I love something to obsess about!!!!

Off to post a pic for you!

P.S. My sympathies on the "non-working" standstill sorts of days. They are SO frustrating!!! I HATED THEM!!!!
