Happy Valentine's Day!

This day is not super sentimental to me. I think in the out of the 12 years I have known/dated/been married to Randy we have only been together a handful of them. Last year, I remember that he was not here on the actual day, but we went out for dinner the weekend before or after. I am not a huge into flowers (come on now I would never turn them down though!)and I eat chocolate EVERY DAY multiple times actually, so I kind of see it as an over exaggerated holiday. (How cynical does that sound?) I am totally NOT against it and LOVE when Randy brings a big fat diamond something or rather in a pretty little box (wake up Tracy, you are dreaming again, you have a house you are remodeling!!), but I don't long for it... After a lot of rambling, here is what the post is really about..
I pulled out the glue, all the different types of hearts and stamps and papers I could find and let the girls make a card for daddy. Here is Madison hard at work. She seems to be really getting the hang of cutting. She even cut out that purple heart I had drawn without help...Kindergarten here she comes!
Of course Me TOO had to use the scissors. Her skills not quite there yet!

Cait's front page, if you look really close you can find all the letters of her name. Of course you need to have a degree in Sherlock Holmes, but they are in there and FINALLY she can write them. She spells CAIT.

Madison's inside page, with all her skills in cutting.

And the outside. Notice she got most of the words correct. It actually says "VALENTIMES", she wrote an "M"by accident and it works out because she tends to add an M in there anyway.

Cait's inside. She also wrote her name in there. It is a little more legible.
We hid them in the girls' room and they are going to bring them in to him when they wake up in the morning. They were very excited about that part. Randy wakes them up when he gets home and Madison kept trying to processes whether she was suppose to give him the card then or in the morning. I think she has it, we shall see.

So after all of that, what are your plans for Valentine's Day? Do you have anything special plans? Do you have to wait until the weekend? If you don't have any special plans, what is your favorite Valentine memory?

We, for obvious reasons don't do valentines. My favorite valentine's however is the first morning I woke up married to Ben.

Ben is working in the tower tonight until 11pm - happy valentines! I will sit and eat chocolate alone :0)

I love that you call Cait "Me Too." That's pretty funny! And I noticed that Madison wrote a "m" in place of her "n" before you wrote about it. I love that! Doesn't almost every kid pick up the "m" sound in valentine anyhow? So much a part of their charm!

We don't really do anything special to celebrate Valentine's day either. I agree with all of the points that you made about it not really being worthy of a holiday celebration. However, I do have to admit that it's becoming much more fun since having kids to spoil!

Oliver and I aren't big on valentine gifts - I did get the kids each something little. I like the non-store-bought side of valentines day. When I first met Oliver he sent me (long distance) a sock decorated with puff paint and filled with chocolates.

One of the girls once wrote 'finger' as 'thinger' and then argued with me that she'd spelled it right.

My favorite Valentine's Day memory was when Andrew took me to Whistler 3 years ago AND guess what, we leave tomorrow to go there AGAIN!!!!!!

We don't do Valentines Day on the 14th for obvious reasons. I usually do a V-day for Joe on the 13th though. I guess I feel bad that the 14th is celebrated for me since it's my b-day. Well, the 14th is celebrated for me when he's around. I was so pumped that he was able to take the morning off this time.
Your comment on my post cracked me up. I thought about it and yeah, I probably wouldn't have thought my post would have been what it was either.
Regardless, Happy Valentines Day!!!
