OH MY GOODNESS! Just listen to this day. It started out a good day. Randy got up at 7 to start demo. I on the other hand stayed in bed until the girls got up 7:50 (whoohoo mommy!) I had my neighbor girl coming over at 8 so that we wouldn't be interrupted. I realized the time and flew out of bed, got the girls dressed, brushed and before I could even get that done, she was walking up the stairs.
That taken care of (just a little behind) I thought it was going to be a great day because who doesn't like breaking stuff, especially when it is going to be replaced with cool NEW stuff? Randy was well on his way to making a nice sized pile of stuff. He gets a call that the dumpster isn't coming today...What?? Oh yes. So we decided, the garage would be the dumpster for the day.. Problem #2 solved.. Then around 10 or so the contractor comes. He wants to look at the water heater because it is.. umm broke. (what's another $1000 or so when you are already spending this much?) Randy and Tom (contractor) do what they need to do and he's off. Around 11 or so I head down stairs to put on the pork tenderloin for dinner (go back and read it again, I'll wait.. a full dinner on day one of demo, I rock!) AND THE BASEMENT HAD AN INCH OR BETTER OF WATER.. Toys , scrapbook stuff, furniture, 4 or 5 carpet remnants, SOAKED. So I spent the next 2 or 3 hours swimming in 60 gallons of water leaked out from our water heater. A valve got turned on, and at the time the pressure kept the water in. As the pressure released, so did the water. I have never used a shop vac, and steam cleaner for so long in my life. There was minor damage and i am so happy that Katie came over yesterday because we had been looking at the girls baby books and they were up out of harms way. Tom came in and started fixing the new one. We had moved so much, you couldn't even walk. It look like a freakin tornado had gone through. Randy's dad got here around 10. How amazing was he? Quadruple bypass the first of December spent three weeks in cardiac ICU went home for 5 days and then back in for 5 more with a staff infection. and 7 months later he is demolishing a kitchen with his son. I think he is SUPER tired. If you could have been here today, you seriously would have thought you were in a comedy of errors play. Aren't you people sending your good vibes? I guess they haven't reached me yet. Express mail!!!
The girls ended up at my neighbors (thanks so much Col) I don't know how I would have done it with the girls here. They were gone until 4. Then dinner, I had managed to clean up enough so we could sit at the table (my old one is in the basement). We had our dinner and then Madison had gymnastics. We got home at 8:30 and I plopped the girls in bed and here I am. CRAZY DAY (hopefully not to be repeated) My brain is so fried, I am sure I forgot a ton of things that happened, but here are a few pictures of how it looks now!
Early in the day before the water, here is some wallpaper I found. The crazy thing is, it is almost back in style. It is kind of a touille (is that how you spell it?) of blue roses.
This one, not so much. Bunches of fruit with orange stripes. Seriously, how could anyone ever think this was pretty?
Privacy please..There used to be walls here, but no more. Taken from the garage door.
taken from the dining room looking into the kitchen. The sink is at the very back by the window.

I am standing in the foyer. The dining room on the left bathroom on the right and kitchen straight ahead.
From the family room. The left is the dining room (the refrigerator won't fit out the door with the doors on, so we moved it into there) Right is the kitchen.
HOLY SCHNIKEY! What a day. I can't believe it has only been one day. We do go tomorrow night to the last designer to figure out what he can offer with his design (I know destroying a kitchen without a design is crazy. Believe it or not, it has not affected us AT ALL. Everything that has gone wrong has nothing to do with the actual kitchen and not having everything lined up)
Hopefully tomorrow, the tile will come up and then it will be free sailing after that. We think there MAY be hard wood under the sub floor of the tile. Wouldn't that be nice? We will see tomorrow..If I can move. (randy worked for over 12 hours of straight HARD labor. God love him)

HOLY. CRAP. I cannot believe your entire kitchen disappeared in one day. And you not only cleaned up 60 gallons of water, and cooked a full dinner, but somehow managed to BLOG about it? Damn. I need some of your energy.
Ditto what Katie said!!!!!
Hope today is better.
OH WOW!!! THAT LOOKS SCARY TO ME! YOU ARE A VERY BRAVE WOMAN!
Hope today is working out better for you!
